The plane tills a squall,
and her left arm retreats
to a depth of hand,
smooth in between
those covered legs,
in Britannica Jeans,
under forced air,
she’s blown to Rodin,
taking it on the chin,
thinking who almost knew,
his name or thought,
parked longside the berm.

Your permanent moment
when the water breaks,
the boring sun,
her last glowering look,
distance, a penny arcade,
the mountain top fog,
the sharp half shell
that cut your foot,
and your opening sentence
in half,
to shreds.

Passage in the galley,
plane steel to the hull,
bumping-up turbulent,
like the sound of jitter,
the sound of engine,
going through;
a pocket of air,
a pocket of pants,
a pocket of breath
.
Chris Chalk is Publisher of D’Cypher Press, which has produced
two books of poetry,
Night of the Dolphin by John Jacob and
Off Target by Ron Offen. Chris has previously published critical
work and poetry in
Free Lunch,
A Poetry Miscellany.

He is self described as an amalgamated son of America,
a collection of aspirations and imaginings, and one who does not
hold with crowds.
